How to choose a 3D printing service
Every 3D printing service promises quality. The useful question is which of them can prove it. Five checks separate a good choice from a gamble.
Compare proof, not promises
Ask what a service can show, not what it claims. On PrintBid3D every bidding printer has passed a calibration test — a measured 20 mm cube and a 3DBenchy with photos — and carries a public rating built from completed jobs.
Match the technology to the part
FDM for strong, cheap functional parts. Resin for fine detail and ±0.05 mm tolerances. SLS for nylon parts without support marks. A service that only offers one technology will sell you that technology — whether or not it fits your part.
Check material coverage
PLA covers most prototypes; PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and nylon cover the rest. A printer listing the material your environment demands — heat, UV, flexibility, chemicals — saves a redesign later.
Distance is a feature
A printer near you means local pickup, no shipping damage and a short loop if something needs a reprint. Searching by city or map often beats a marginally cheaper bid from far away.
Let them bid
A single quote tells you nothing about the market. When several calibrated printers bid on the same analysed file, you see the real price — and you can trade it against rating, tolerance record and distance instead of guessing.
